What is Micro QR
Micro QR has only one square marker in the corner instead of three, so it is much smaller than a regular QR. It holds very little data, though: at most 35 digits.
It needs a quiet zone 2 modules wide, half that of a regular QR. A higher error correction level reduces the capacity.
Frequently asked questions
Can a phone read Micro QR?
Not every phone can. Many apps and built-in cameras read only regular QR codes. Micro QR is used with industrial readers.
How much data fits in Micro QR?
At level L at most 35 digits, 21 capital letters and digits, or 15 bytes of any text. Less at higher levels.
When should I choose Micro QR over Data Matrix?
When a customer or reading system requires it. Otherwise Data Matrix holds more data on a similar area.
Why does the preview show an error at a higher level?
A higher error correction level reduces capacity and the content no longer fits. Shorten the content or choose level L.
Which module size should I choose?
It depends on the reader and printing. The generator defaults to 0.5 mm, but smaller modules are also used for marking parts.
