What Qreska is
Qreska is a set of free barcode and QR code generators at qreska.com. You type the content and get a print-ready file as SVG, PNG or PDF.
No account and no registration are needed, and there is no limit on the number of codes. We put no watermark on the files and ask for no attribution, including for commercial use.
The codes are produced entirely in your browser. Their content never reaches our server; the privacy policy sets out exactly what that means.
GTIN numbers are issued by GS1, not by us
Qreska draws a barcode from the number you supply. We do not issue GTIN, EAN or UPC numbers, we keep no register of them, and we do not certify that a number is yours.
Numbers are allocated by GS1, in Poland by GS1 Polska. A code generated from somebody else's number does not thereby become yours, and goods carrying one may be rejected by a shop or a marketplace.
What a pool of your own numbers costs is worked out by the GS1 fee calculator. If you need a code only for internal use — shelves, work orders, fixed assets — no GS1 number is required and any symbology will do, for example Code 128.
Rules of use
The service may be used for any purpose, including commercial ones, as long as it is none of the cases below.
We do not inspect what you put inside a code, beyond the format validation that keeps the code readable. Responsibility for the content of a code, and for what is done with it, rests with the person who creates it.
- Creating codes that lead to fraud, to malware or to unlawful content.
- Impersonating somebody else's numbers, trademarks, bank accounts or payment systems.
- Calling the service automatically in a way that disrupts it for other people.
- Passing yourself off as Qreska, or suggesting that the service issued, approved or certified your code.
What we guarantee and what we do not
Every symbology is checked by reading it back: a test renders the code, saves it as an image, reads it again with the zxing library and compares the result with what went in. That is how we know the file you download is a valid code.
What such a test does not cover is your printer, your paper or film, your scanner and the conditions the code will be read in. Those are on your side, and they are usually what decides whether a code scans at the till.
So before ordering a print run, print a sample using the technology you will actually use and scan it with the reader you will actually use. The guide section explains what to look at.
The service is provided free of charge, as it is, with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using a generated code without checking the print. This does not limit consumer rights that cannot be waived.
Rights to the codes and to the service
The files you download are yours. We claim no rights in them and will not ask you to pay for them, now or later.
The symbologies themselves — EAN-13, Code 128, QR, Data Matrix and the rest — are described in standards open to everyone. Generating a code in them needs nobody's permission.
The name Qreska, the logo, the layout of the pages and the code of the service belong to the operator. The guide articles may be quoted with a reference to the source.
Trademarks
QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.
GS1 is a registered trademark of GS1 AISBL.
The other names that appear on the site — marketplaces, printer manufacturers, state systems — belong to their owners. We use them descriptively, to say what a given code works with. We are not affiliated with those organisations and are not certified by them.
Availability and changes to the service
We may change, add and withdraw free features. If a change takes away something that was usable, we will say so on the site in advance.
The planned paid features, dynamic codes among them — codes whose destination can be changed after printing — will have terms of their own, with an explicit commitment about how long a redirect keeps working. They do not exist yet and cannot be bought.
Complaints and disputes
Comments, complaints and abuse reports go to the address on the contact page. We answer within 14 days.
A consumer may also use out-of-court complaint procedures, including the help of the district or municipal consumer ombudsman and proceedings before the authorised bodies listed by the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
Matters not covered here are governed by Polish law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits consumer rights that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change, for instance when the paid plans start or when the law does. The date of the version in force is at the top of this page, and earlier versions are available on request.
Continuing to use the free generators after a change means the current version applies to you. A paid service, once it exists, will not be usable without accepting a change explicitly.
