What is URL QR code
A QR code holding a link is the most common use of QR codes: on a poster, a business card, packaging or a restaurant menu. It stores the full address, so a phone opens the page without anyone retyping it.
The longer the address, the denser the code and the harder it is to scan from a distance or from a small print. If your link carries long tracking parameters, shorten it with your own shortener before generating the code.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to type https:// at the start?
No. If you enter a bare address such as qreska.com, we add https:// for you. It matters, because a QR code without a scheme is often read as plain text and the phone searches for it instead of opening it.
Can I change the address in a code I have already printed?
No. This is a static code and the address lives in the matrix itself. Changing the target means generating and printing a new code. Dynamic codes, whose target can be swapped, are planned for a later stage.
How large should the printed code be?
A practical rule is a width of one tenth of the distance it is scanned from. A code read from 30 cm works at 3 cm wide; a poster read from 3 metres needs about 30 cm. Always leave the quiet zone around it empty.
Does a link QR code work without the internet?
Reading the code works offline, because the address is stored in the matrix. Opening the page at that address of course needs a connection.
Do you count scans of this code?
No. The code is generated entirely in your browser, never passes through our server and contains no redirect through us. We do not even know which address you put in it.
