What does an EAN code cost? GS1 Polska fee calculator

Work out what joining the GS1 system costs: the one-off fee for a pool of numbers and the annual fee that follows your revenue. The amounts are copied from the official GS1 Polska price list.

Qreska does not issue EAN numbers

GTIN/EAN numbers are issued by GS1 (in Poland: GS1 Polska). Qreska only draws the code from a number you already have.

The fees are collected by GS1 Polska

Every fee below is paid to GS1 Polska. Qreska collects none of it, does not act as an intermediary, and has no say in what it costs.

Where these amounts come from

Copied from the official GS1 Polska price list, read on 2026-10-29. GS1 Polska may change them without our involvement, so check them at the source before applying.

The GS1 Polska price list

One number per variant of a product: another size, flavour or colour is another number. The pool follows that count.

Only the annual fee depends on it. The bands are the ones the price list uses.

The pool of ten carries no registration fee, but only for a new participant under 2 million PLN, and only once.

The pool of ten carries no registration fee

The price list waives it for new participants with annual net revenue up to 2 million PLN. Such a pool is given once only; the annual fee still applies.

The gross amounts include VAT at the 23 per cent rate the price list names. The annual fee follows the total net revenue of the year before the one in which it is paid.

Other rates in the price list

A single location number (GLN)
PLN 49.20 grossPLN 40.00 net
A single GTIN-8 (the EAN-8 code for small packages)
PLN 49.20 grossPLN 40.00 net

A participant holding only a single GLN pays an annual fee of the same amount.

What the GS1 fees are made of

Joining the GS1 system costs twice, for two different reasons. The registration fee is paid once, when you apply, and depends only on the size of the pool of numbers you ask for. The annual fee returns every twelve months from the date you joined, and depends only on your company's total net revenue for the previous year — not on how many numbers you actually use.

So a small company with one product and a chain with a thousand can pay the same for a pool and nothing alike for a year. A new participant under 2 million PLN gets a pool of ten with no registration fee and pays only the annual one. Above that threshold the smallest pool to apply for is a hundred, and the next pool can only be requested once most of the previous one has been registered.

Frequently asked questions

Is it paid once or every year?

Both. The registration fee is paid once, when you apply, and depends on the size of the pool. The annual fee returns every twelve months from the date you joined and depends on the total net revenue of the previous year. Leaving part-way through a year does not bring the fee back.

Can I get numbers for free?

The registration fee, yes, for a pool of ten, but only as a new participant (or one holding a single GLN) with annual net revenue up to 2 million PLN. The annual fee is still due, and such a pool is given once only.

How many numbers should I order?

One GTIN per variant of a product sold to a consumer: another size, flavour or colour is another number. Add numbers for outer cases if those are sold as a unit. A further pool can be requested at any time once most of the previous one has been registered, so there is no need to stock up for years ahead.

Are these amounts current?

They were copied from the official GS1 Polska price list on the date shown at the top of the page. GS1 Polska changes them independently of us, so check the price list at the source before applying. The link is next to the date.

Can an EAN be bought more cheaply elsewhere?

Numbers from pools once assigned to other companies are sold online. A number from such a pool stays recorded against that company in the GS1 database — it follows from how the number is built, with a prefix belonging to one particular participant. Whether it is accepted depends on the buyer: retail chains and marketplaces increasingly check who owns the prefix. Qreska neither sells such numbers nor acts as an intermediary for them.
